Race 1 of the BSB looks to be a ‘Who Can Stop Shakey Challenge’
His race pace is very consistent and I think only Shakey can beat Shakey today, that is of course forgetting mechanicals.
Peter Hickman on the Smiths BMW is really flying and if he can carry this form along to the Showdown….. Well, who knows, right?
Leon Haslam seems to have found his form again this weekend, but I'm dubious if he can transpose this to race pace.
The stand out performers in qualifying were Lee Jackson and Andy Reid. Lee is beginning to find some form after a slow start to the season. But where more experienced riders in the paddock are struggling to look adversity in the eyes and beat it, Lee Bob has demonstrated maturity and kept focus and is now reaping the rewards. I for one rate Jackson highly and will be hoping he can come away with 2 top ten places today.
As for Andy Reid I really don't know what to say, I have mixed feelings about this youngster. Not in terms of talent he has bags full of it, my negative feelings are if he can utilize his talent. But this weekend I have nothing but praise and hope he will proceed to make me question doubting him in the slightest.
O'Halloran looked good in qualifying, but I have doubters on the Fireblade being a bike that is easy to ride over race distance rather than a slob that is able to put that one fast lap in.
Brookes struggled in qualifying through mechanical issues and with a solid race 1 performance could easily be up there in race 2.
Ellison and Irwin really need to apply themselves and put 2 unbelievable race performances. as chances of a showdown place will be all but a dream.
Sorry it's brief, but I just wanted to present a quick summary before race 1
