Carlo Panet the man who managed many past riders, including Marco Simoncelli and currently Andrea Iannone, this week insinuated that Red Bull had on behalf of KTM made an initial approach to Marc Marquez with the intent of a very lucrative deal.
Marquez has previous with the Austrian manufacturer having made his Grand Prix debut for them back in 2008. But is the Ant of Cervera really prepared to take that risk, one that if it was a success would eclipse Valentino Rossi's achievement at Yamaha and possibly never be witnessed again.
Stefan Pierer the CEO of KTM has openly spoken of Honda as the most hated rivals, they would love nothing better than to snatch Marc Marquez from them and with their Red Bull backing certainly would not struggle financially to make this come about.
Red Bull's main shareholder Austrian Dietrich Mateschitz has spoken of his desire to see the KTM conquer MotoGP's premier class through the backing of his multi billion pound energy drink company.
I personally would love to see it happen. But will it? I am not so sure given the failure of Jorge Lorenzo's move to Ducati. Would Marc Marquez take view of what happened to Lorenzo and decide stay at Honda where more titles are certain and he will for sure break more records as the seasons pass by.
Possibly, just maybe Yamaha could be his next stop.
As we all know never say never in the world of
